Now for the really important part: creating the API key.
Log in to Bitfinex, click the profile icon in the top right, choose \"API Keys,\" then \"My API Keys,\" and create a new key.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Be careful with the permissions. Follow the screenshot and only turn on these:

\nView historical balances and trade history

\n- View funding status and info\n- Offer, cancel, and close funding

\nView balance wallets and addresses

\n- Allow access from all IP addresses

\n\nWith those on, the bot can check your balance and place lending offers for you.

\nAnd whatever you do, do NOT turn on \"Transfer between wallets.\" The bot should never have permission to move your money. This is the single most important step for keeping your funds safe.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

One more thing to watch out for: after the key is generated, Bitfinex only shows you the API Key and API Secret once. So copy them and save them somewhere safe right away. This is where a lot of people get stuck the first time, so pay attention. Bitfinex has three kinds of wallets. For regular crypto trading, you use the \"Exchange\" wallet.
